HCData - Laboratory Information Management System for High Content Analysis

Data management has become one of the central issues in high throughput screening. In particular, High-Content Analysis applying automated microscopy requires a system that is capable of storing and analyzing vast amounts of data. These data include comprehensive information about the bioactive molecules, the targeted genes, the physical plates, the assays, and images as well as their extracted data matrices after acquisition and analysis.

Scionics provides a solution: HCData. HCData is a web based bioinformatics software package for the management and analysis of all areas of high throughput / high content cell based screen experimentation. It consists of a Library Checker, a Library Browser, a Scheduling Kit, a Screen Browser and a Screen Publisher. These provide a framework for storing, browsing and analyzing screening information that can be combined with other Scionics tools, for example for additional data-mining.
This software is currently being tested. Please re-visit this section for information about upcoming commercial availability.

BaCe Bank - BAC Production Database

This database product is intended for data management needs originating from the production of BAC constructs. It is a searchable database of three linked types of records:
(a) genes of interest and their products
(b) tagged BAC constructs
(c) stable cell lines
It provides an overview of the "pipeline of progress" in the generation of tagged BACs, production of cell lines, and affinity purification of tagged proteins.

LabStorage - Inventory Management for Molecular Biology Labs

LabStorage is a web based software package for the management of molecular biology lab information. It is composed of 10 integrated modules: Commercial Antibodies, Noncommercial Antibodies, Plasmids, Vectors, Oligonucleotide, siRNA, Cell Lines, Chemicals, Equipment and Protocols.
Inventory of valuable biological samples and specimens is critical for basic research. Keeping track of large numbers and types of samples (DNA, RNA, plasmids, clones, proteins, peptides, probes, antibodies, enzymes, specimens, tissues, cell lines and more) and their precise location can be a daunting task that costs a great deal not only in monetary terms, but may also lead to frustration and time loss.
LabStore offers a complete solution for labs of institutes with integrated "data share" mechanisms. The main concept behind LabStore is that each scientist in the lab can easily manage such data and information and make it available to the rest of the institute. Due to intranet support, data can be accessed from any connected computer in the lab, which accelerates information retrieval. Laboratory staff spend less time on recurrent and time-consuming operations and dedicate more precious time to research.

HitBase - Multiple Sequence Analysis and Data Browsing

HitBase can be used as a stand-alone version or as a module of HTData and is designed for data browsing as well as analyzing and presenting of large scale screen data such as microscope images. HitBase has been created for the archival, distribution and analysis of phenotypic data from RNAi analyses in human genome, yeast and C.elegans.
The database contains a compendium of publicly available data and provides information on experimental methods and phenotypic results, including raw data in the form of images and image analysis results. Phenotypic summaries together with graphical displays of RNAi to gene mappings allow quick intuitive comparison of results from different RNAi assays and visualization of the gene product(s) potentially inhibited by each RNAi experiment based on multiple sequence analysis methods. HitBase can be searched using combinatorial queries, which ranks genes according to their overall phenotypic similarity.

MovieBase - Kinetic Analysis and Imaging

Comparable to HitBase, MovieBase links research data to other variables. However, Moviebase uses time stamps of the research data as variables. This allows it to store not only the research data but also connects associated images with time and thus creates a "movie". By doing so, MovieBase allows scientists to conduct kinetic analysis of their experiments and also provides additional tools such as automatic clustering of different data sets and interactive charts.

SIB - Screening Image Browsing

In high throughput screening, a vast amount of image and numerical data is created, which includes comprehensive information about the bioactive molecules, the targeted genes, images as well as their extracted data matrices after acquisition. Screening Image Browser is a web-based bioinformatics solution for the management of images from different screening microscopes.
The final version of this database will be a unique, fully operational, distributed digital library of screening image data accessible to researchers. Such a system makes it possible to optimally understand and interpret the data, leading to a more complete and integrated understanding of cellular structure, function and regulation in image based assays. SIB is a scientific database that enables effective data management accessible through a standard web browser interface. The application utilizes a robust security architecture and is designed for efficient data exploration.
